We are thrilled to announce the addition of Lisa Waldowski, DNP, APRN, CIC, to the Compass Clinical Consulting team. Lisa brings 30+ years of experience as an expert in infection prevention and control and accreditation and regulatory standards. In her role as Senior Consultant with Compass, Lisa works with hospitals and health system clients to assess their current state of compliance and provide recommendations toward achieving safe, quality care.

Lisa brings perspective from various roles in the healthcare spectrum. Prior to joining Compass, she was the Director of Infection Prevention at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mt. Sinai. Previously, she spent five years as an Infection Prevention and Control Specialist (Enterprise-Wide) with The Joint Commission. In this role, Lisa provided hospital and ambulatory surveyor education and support for IC-related findings. She also served as an expert resource for TJC, delivering presentations and education on IC Standards and National Patient Safety Goals to surveyors, accredited organizations, and professional organizations nationwide. In addition, she authored TJC’s High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization BoosterPak™.

Infection prevention and control expert, Lisa WaldowskiFormerly as Patient Safety Officer, Employee Health Coordinator at the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Lisa oversaw hospital-wide prevention, education, identification, and isolation of infectious diseases for approximately 8,000 outpatient visits, 500 inpatient admissions, 175 paid employees, and 60 volunteers. She also initiated quality improvement measures pertaining to hospital-acquired conditions. As a healthcare leader, she is committed to working with hospital leadership and staff to create robust infection prevention and control systems that emphasize safety, communication, and collaboration.

Lisa earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice focused in systems leadership from Rush University. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at University of Hawaii at Manoa, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. Lisa is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and is board certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC).

It’s not just in healthcare that Lisa has made great strides. She’s also an avid runner with a passion for running new or different marathons (she hates to repeat one that she’s already run)!
